Aleksandra Zakharenko, alongside similar-minded artists like Ulla and Ben Bondy, makes ambient music that breaks the mold: it's not necessarily intended to bring you solace and definitely won't make an easy soundtrack for any hotel lobbies (or elevators). How Much Time It Is Between You And Me?, is just as unsettling and eerie as it is delicate. The album uses these mixed emotions—as well as touches of post-rock melodrama and angst—to create a liminal state between waking and dreaming held together by Zakharenko's voice, which guides you through labyrinths that can be nightmarish but, just as quickly, morph into luxurious daydreams. —H.I.
